I think so far for Phase 1 I could've done many things differently. I understood the materials and the assignments but didn't turn in anything on time because I was struggling to keep up with 4 classes and work. I think from this point I will learn how to manage my time better in order to not fall behind. It sometimes felt like being the only person who's "not in on the joke" with the rest of my classmates because of the massive gap I accidentally created for myself. rather than connecting, I was disconnecting and the whole point of IS101 is yes, to become proficient in things like Word and Excel but it is also to create and maintain a digital footprint. That requires forming connections and relationships in the class. When I did finally catch up to Chapter 4, there were a few things I found super helpful in the materials but one that stood out was the Thesaurus LabSim lecture.
The Thesaurus LabSim, 4.6.3, was super helpful for someone like me who is bilingual! A lot of times when I write things in Word, I tend to use the same words over and over and the thesaurus really helped me enrich my content and writing. I worked hard on pushing through and passing the MO-110 Word certification exam. My best method was really doing every single LabSim and practice and not stopping at a 80% or 90%. I even went back and redid things but the practice helped so much!
I really think that hard work will get you to many places and that is a lesson I have to learn and relearn for myself. I honestly can't wait to use the things I learned in class and from the class for my future.
I find the thesaurus quite helpful too :-)
ReplyDeleteGood job on working hard to close the gap, may you catch up to your classmates by this coming Saturday, our final class session together ^_^
It's not how you start but how you finish!
Wow! I wouldn't blame you. You had four classes and work, that's a lot on your plate. I'm doing three classes, and I know I'm not ready for four classes. I feel like you understand the purpose of this class better than I did, and I showed up every day, so don’t sweat it. You are doing it so that all that matters, and you haven’t given up. I know we are almost done, but you can pull through and finish strong.
ReplyDeleteI use the Thesaurus a little more than I probably should when I am typing up my Word documents for my Psychology class. I just want to sound a little smarter and not be so repetitive with the same words.
Being a full-time student while working is no easy task, but you’ve shown perseverance and a strong willingness to catch up. I agree, the thesaurus is very helpful. I often use it when I notice I’ve repeated the same word too many times while reviewing my writing. We’re almost at the finish line, you’ve got this!
ReplyDeleteHey! I really like how honest and real you are in this post. It sounds like you’ve learned a lot, not just about the class stuff, but about yourself too. Time management is tough, especially with work and other classes, but it’s awesome that you’re figuring it out. The Thesaurus part was super relatable too, such a helpful tool, especially when writing in a second language. The fact that you went back and redid things shows how hard you’re working. Keep it up, you’re doing great!
ReplyDeleteHi! Having 4 classes and full time work is no joke! I am in the same boat and it is really easy to get behind. The fact that you are even still attempting to complete the work, whether it is late or not, speaks to your hard work and dedication! I wish you luck in getting everything completed for the semester!
ReplyDeleteThe thesaurus feature is super helpful. I definitely use it to enhance my writing skills as well.
Hi, just like you I struggled at first to find a balance with a full time job, full time student and being a mom. I still strugle with it now, but I suggest finding a good rhythm from the beginning so that the rest of the term is a bit smoother. I found that setting aside 1 hour of the day to focus on assignments worked, you'd be surprised on how much you can get done. I'm glad you are closing the gap and wish you luck1 :)
ReplyDeleteThe important thing is that you have been able to pull ahead in your classwork. Doesn't matter how you start, but how you finish shows who you are. The thesaurus definitely helps in expanding our vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteHey Noam, I can not imagine having 4 classes and working full time, I'm already struggling with two classes. Good luck on catching up, wishing you the best. One more week left!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Noam,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated your honesty in your latest post. Balancing four classes and work is no small feat, and it's understandable that keeping up with everything was challenging. It's commendable that you're taking steps to improve, especially by focusing on time management and recognizing the importance of forming connections within the class.
Your insight about the Thesaurus LabSim lecture being particularly helpful for bilingual individuals resonates with me. Enhancing vocabulary and avoiding repetition can significantly improve the quality of writing, and it's great that you found this tool beneficial.
Your dedication to revisiting and completing the LabSim exercises, aiming for perfection rather than settling for less, showcases your commitment to learning. This perseverance is inspiring and will undoubtedly serve you well in future endeavors.
You're on the right track! ^-^
I really admire your honesty and perseverance! Time management is tough, but it’s great that you’re pushing through. Congrats on passing the MO-110 exam that’s awesome! Keep going, you’ve got this!
ReplyDeleteHi, my sister always be putting on perfumes. And great presentation!
ReplyDeleteWorking full time and going to school full time is not easy, same thing happened to me. I was out of school for so long that I forgot how much time consuming it is, but I did learn a lot this semester and there are many changes I will make for my next semester. Practice is always the key to getting better, and LabSim with live projects were helpful for the exams. Honestly since I went back to school amazing things started happening in my life, although school causes a lot of stress, it’s extremely rewarding in the end. ๐
ReplyDeleteHey Noam, it is not easy to balance 4 classes and work. It takes up a little time to adjust to the IS101-3205 course, but when you do, it becomes much easier. Hope you finish strong!
ReplyDeleteHiii Noam! Time management definitely got to me as well, but I feel like once you've figured out your groove, nothing gets past you. I know you are going to take the 'W' home!
